Thappad is not about physical violence but.....

Thappad
A Debate broke out among people since the release of Thappad's trailer. Can a Thappad be a reason for divorce? Let me tell you this film is not about physical violence or slap. Thappad is about all women who silently tolerate the husband's mentality. Amrita (Tapsee Pannu) and Vikram (Pavail Gulati) are living in happily married life. Vikram belongs to a wealthy family and doing a job in a company under CEO. He sets his goals to settle in London, having a baby. Amrita is a house lady. She does not know how to cook well, but she tried to complete her responsibilities. Vikram attended a meeting where the board of director decided to send him London to handle the office. He becomes so happy. He arranged a party at the house on the same night. Suddenly, Vikram gets a call and come to know that he will be not a boss in London, he has to work under a British guy.
Hearing this, he goes to his manager, who is present at the party. He makes arguments with his superior. Everyone starts to stop him, but he does not. Amrita comes to stop him, but instead of ending the quarrel, he slaps her vigorously. Amrita is not able to forget the incident. She does not take this to physical violence but mental abuse. She goes to her own home. Vikram gets angry at Amrita's house.
After a few days, Vikram sends a legal notice to Amrita of coming back home. Amrita gets shocked. She sends him a mutual divorce notice on the ground of different personalities. Within these circumstances, Amrita comes to know about her pregnancy. Now, what will happen?

Story and screenplay are excellent. The story of the film is not limited to just a slap. Thappad tells about women identity, which is lost anywhere. With a slap, Amrita remembers how much she had lost, which she was ignoring till now. She did not react like a divorce in exchange for just a slap. A man hurts to the self-respect of women verbally. A Woman ignores slow poison, but when something big happens, she lost her self respect.
One of the drawbacks of the screenplay was that whatever Amrita endured silently, the filmmaker had to show it in a bit more detail.

Anubhav Sinha took over as director. No doubt, he did his job well.
Cinematography is okay. Background music is excellent in the film.
Tapsee Pannu dressing style suited to her role.
Now come to the acting, Tapsee performed well. Pavail Gulati, Diya Mirza, Ratna Pathak, Tanvi Azmi, Kumud Mishra's performance are also excellent. The film will hold you till the end to see whether the divorce has done or not.
In the end, The film gives you a message. Do something wrong by being angry does not spoil the relationship. For a healthy relationship, two people need to have love as well as respect each other. A wife is not smaller than her husband, but she is of equal status. Wife is not a medium for a husband to vent his anger. The relationships heal on their own when the partner realizes his mistake from the heart.
